Mike Pal is a fresh and accomplished Calgarian with a constructive program of political and economic reform for the City.

Mike Pal holds a Bachelors Degree with a double major in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Calgary and a Post Graduate Certificate in Publicity and Public Relations from the University of Toronto.

He has served our country as an Infantry Officer and Platoon Commander in the Canadian Armed Forces. In 2009 he deployed to Kandahar Afghanistan on Operation ATHENA and worked for the International Security Assistance Force as a member of the Kandahar Provincial Reconstruction Team, and later as an analyst for the All Source Intelligence Center in Afghanistan.

For serving over 230 days in Afghanistan in the presence of an armed enemy, Mike was awarded the South West Asia Campaign Star with an additional rotation bar.

Having recently worked in the Office of the Aldermen in Calgary, and for the Strategic Directions Division, Planning Branch of Alberta Health and Wellness, he is very familiar with the day-to-day business of the government.

Born and raised in Calgary, Mike Pal was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal in 2005 for outstanding dedication to fellow citizens in the City of Calgary.

Mike Pal is also a recognized baseball coach by the Coaching Association of Canada and was trained through the National Coaching Certification Program. In 2006 he was a member of the volunteer coaching staff for Team Calgary in Baseball Alberta’s Provincial Pee Wee Performance League.

Mike lives in Inglewood with his wife Lara – an engineer and former member of the Team Canada U-22 Womens Hockey team.
